Biography

Derizhanov was born on June 25, 1898 in Moscow (according to other sources - in Armavir ) in the family of a medic. In 1918 he graduated from an Armavir gymnasium, in 1923 received a diploma of the medical faculty of Rostov State University . In 1923–1931 he was an assistant at the Department of Pathological Anatomy, which was managed by Professor Sh. I. Krinitsky, defended his thesis “Pathological Anatomy of Primary Lung Cancer”. In 1931 he became head of the department of pathological anatomy of the Smolensk Medical Institute . Derizhanov received the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences and the title of professor for his scientific works.

In July 1941, the Derizhanov family was evacuated to Saratov , soon the scientist was transferred to Ivanovo , where he headed the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the IGMI . During the war years, Derizhanov became interested in the issue of osteomyelitis , which he began studying pathogenesis in the Saratov Medical Institute, and he resumed in the pathoanatomical department of the evacuation hospitals of the Ivanovo Regional Health Department. In 1944, Derizhanov published a monograph “Pathological anatomy and pathogenesis of osteomyelitis in the fire”, in which he described the main aspects of the allergic theory of this disease. He became one of the pioneers in this problem using such a time-consuming method as the creation of skeletonized drugs in the context of continuous comparison of anatomical, histological, clinical and radiological indicators. He didn’t have enough time to finish writing the monograph, but the achievements of his works on osteomyelitis in the fire are cited in a number of relevant sources.

Derizhanov wrote 25 scientific papers, in particular 4 monographs, he proposed an allergic theory of hematogenous osteomyelitis. For the creation of an experimental model of hematogenous osteomyelitis, Derizhanov was awarded the prize named after Professor S. P. Fedorov . Under his leadership, 8 candidate and 2 doctoral dissertations were written.

Derizhanov's daughter, Irina, followed in the footsteps of her father, becoming a doctor of medical sciences, professor, head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Rostov Medical Institute .
