Overview
The idea of creating a new class of auto racing appeared in 2015 on the wave of the success of Formula E. The championship organizers joined forces with the British venture capital company Kinetik , headed by Denis Sverdlov [1] . The series is also supported by the company ARRIVAL , which develops electric vehicles for commercial use [2] .
The first season was planned to be held in the framework of the Formula E Championship 2016-2017 . Later, the start of the series was postponed to a later time. As part of the 2017 ePrix Buenos Aires, Roborace test runs were held. The start of the first real race is expected in December 2017, during Hong Kong's ePrix [3] .
In 10 stages of the championship, taking place on the same street routes, at least 9 teams will take part, one of which will be created with the help of crowdsourcing [1] . All teams will receive two identical machines, but will use their own computational algorithms and artificial intelligence technologies. Races lasting one hour will take place at the stages of Formula E.
