FreedowsOS is an open source Windows clone project for the x86 platform, licensed under the GNU General Public License. Started in 1996, Reece K. Sellin, the project was not completed because stalled on discussions about system architecture. In the end, development was suspended in 2002. [1] [2] [3]
It was planned that the system will be based on the design of the cache core developed at Stanford University. As conceived by the developers, this design would allow the system to emulate various systems (Windows, Linux, or MacOS) and run their applications. [4] [5]
