Biography
in young age
Alexander Rudzky was born on January 12, 1838 in the family of the district forester Felitsian Rudzky, who was also a forester . In 1858 he graduated from the Chernigov gymnasium and was sent to study in St. Petersburg and in 1860 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Forestry and Land Boundary Institute in St. Petersburg. From 1861 to 1863 he trained abroad. From 1864 to 1875 he held the position of forester and head of the Zasursko-Selekhsinskoye lesnichestvo of the Penza province. From 1876 to 1901 he worked first as a professor, and then as the head of the Department of Forest Management of the Forest Institute in St. Petersburg. Alexander Rudzky published such well-known foresters as G.F. Morozov, D.M. Kravchinsky , M.M. Orlov , V.N. Sukachev and others.
Together with Professor A. S. Grebnitsky, he took an active part in the first Russian edition of the widely known two-volume work by N. Gaucher, “A Guide to Fruit Growing” (Petersburg, 1889).
For a long time was a syndicate of the Catholic Church of St. Catherine [2] . He was a member of the Russian Geographical Society .
Alexander Rudzky died on June 27, 1901 during a vacation in Vershub (now - Lithuania ). He was buried at the Vyborg Roman Catholic cemetery in St. Petersburg [2] [3] .
