Murders
The criminal committed 2 murders, the first of May 26 , the second of August 10 . He committed the killings from the sawn-off shotgun, which he brought with him in a plastic bag. The killer was wearing a mask. Both victims were men; the first was 49 years old, the second 30 years [2] . The first murder was like a banal robbery (the killer took money and jewelry from the women in the pharmacy). After the second murder, a version of a serial maniac arose. Both victims were shot from the same weapon [3] . The assassin made attacks only on pharmacies owned by the Classic chain of stores. According to witnesses, the offender looked ridiculous, hesitated, expressed himself in phrases from American militants. At first, his appearances did not impress anyone [3] .
After the crimes that occurred, a panic began in Chelyabinsk. Chelyabinsk police was transferred to an enhanced duty regime [4] . The network of drugstores “Classic” was taken under special control. The photobot of the alleged killer was pasted over with public transport, shops, large office buildings. For information that would lead to the capture of the killer, a reward of 1,000,000 rubles was assigned [5] . The police’s inability to catch the maniac [6] aroused widespread criticism in the media of the Chelyabinsk law enforcement system [7] .
There is speculation that the shooter at the visitors had a manic-depressive psychosis . The conclusions of the experts of the regional neuropsychiatric hospital who made up his psychological portrait suggest the opposite.
