Carl Caspar von Siebold ( German: Carl Caspar von Siebold ; November 4, 1736 , Niedeggen - April 3, 1807 , Würzburg ) - German physician , professor of anatomy, surgery and obstetrics at the University of Würzburg . He is considered the founder of modern surgery.

Biography
Karl Siebold is the only son of a physician Johann Christoph Siebold and his wife Esther, nee Brunninghausen. Siebold studied with his father, gained his first experience working as a paramedic in a French military infirmary. Since 1760 he studied medicine at the University of Würzburg, in 1763 passed the doctor’s exam with honors. After several trips to Paris , London and Leiden, he received the post of life doctor from Prince Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seingheim .
In 1769 he received his doctorate and served as professor of anatomy, surgery and obstetrics at the University of Würzburg. In 1771 he was elected a member of Leopoldina . In 1776, Siebold was appointed head physician of the Würzburg hospital, where he developed new methods of surgery and laid down hygiene standards that made it possible to equip the world's first modern operating room , operating until 1890. For services to the war in 1801, Siebold was elevated to the nobility.
Siebold's students included Franz Caspar Gesselbach , Johann Friedrich Meckel , Nikolaus Anton Friedreich , Konrad Johann Martin Langenbeck and Johann Peter Weidman.
In 1766, Karl Caspar von Siebold married Veronica Stang (1744-1793). The spouses were born:
- Georg Christoph von Siebold (1767-1798) - physiologist, father of the doctor Philipp Franz von Siebold
- Johann Heinrich Theodore Damian von Siebold (1768-1828) - doctor
- Johann Bartel von Siebold (1774-1814) - surgeon and anatomist
- Adam Elias von Siebold (1775-1828) - doctor, father of Karl von Siebold , doctor and zoologist.
