Story
The hero of the novel, Phileas Fogg, made a bet that he will be able to circumnavigate the globe from west to east in no more than 80 days, taking into account the technical capabilities of transport of the XIX century. Fogg's journey begins in England , and then he goes to France , Italy , Egypt , India , China , Japan and America .
In India, Fogg and his servant, Jean Passepartout, save the beautiful Audu, who is about to be burned alive with the body of her late husband. Subsequently, she becomes Fogg's wife. Detective Fix fixes the journey: the police are convinced that it was Fogg who stole a large sum from the Bank of England , and betting is an opportunity to evade punishment.
Fogg returns to the UK one day late and decides the next day, on Monday, to get married to Audi. Passepartout sent to the priest. But the reverend said that a wedding is impossible, since tomorrow is Sunday! When planning a trip, Phileas did not take into account that, moving towards the Sun , he would make a trip in 79 days due to the intersection of the date line . Mr. Fogg wins the bet.
The novel describes in detail the means and conditions of travel of that time: on pack boats , in steam locomotives and on schooners . In addition, travelers had to use a sled with a sail and even an elephant .
