Ridenaura Prizes

The Ridenhour Prizes . The Nation Institute and the Fertel Foundation have set up annual Ridenaura Prizes for those who have shown courage and jeopardized their reputation for consolidating democracy.

The award initially had three nominations - “for courage”, “for truth” and the book, since 2011 a fourth was added - “documentary”.

Ron Ridenaur

In 1969, the Vietnam War veteran Ron Ridenaur sent letters to the US Congress and the Pentagon in which he tried to draw attention to the tragedy that happened a year earlier in the South Vietnamese village of Songmi .

He later became a journalist, author of high-profile investigations, but did not wait for a prestigious award and died prematurely at the age of 52.
