The 27th World Biathlon Championship was held in March 1992 in the city of Novosibirsk as part of the 6th stage of the World Cup . It consisted of a single type - the team race, since the rest of the disciplines were included in the program of the Winter Olympic Games in Albertville .
The World Championship was held against the background of geopolitical transformations of the early 1990s. In this regard, for the first time participated in the championship teams of the Baltic countries. The rest of the countries that were previously part of the USSR acted as part of the so-called “united team” .
