- January 17 - Tunnel is opened in Istanbul ( tour. Tünel ) - an underground funicular on horseback, which is often considered the second full-fledged metro in the world after London .

- Engineer Vasily Titov submitted to the Moscow authorities a proposal to lay an underground railway line from the Kursk railway station through Lubyanskaya and Trubnaya Squares to the Marina Grove . A ban was imposed on the proposal; the matter did not reach a full-fledged project [1] [2] .
