The Novosilsky historical and cultural center consists of two divisions - the Novosilsky regional museum of local lore and the Vyazhevsky military historical complex [1] [2] . The local history museum is located in the city of Novosil, a military-historical complex in the village of Vyazhi-Zaverkh at the site of the breakthrough of the German defense in July 1943 . The general fund of the Novosilsky historical and cultural center has about 4000 exhibits [3] . The museum’s work is based on the traditional local history profile: the basic ones are the constantly operating departments - the nature of the native land, the history of Novosil from the principality to the county, the 20th century - pre-revolutionary events, the formation of Soviet power, the Great Patriotic War, famous compatriots, the culture of the native land, Novosil and district in the second half of the XX century. More than 70% of the expositions are genuine exhibits, the rest are copies, supporting materials, texts. Among the main directions are the cultural and educational activities of the museum - its main forms: excursions, lectures, consultations, competitions, meetings with interesting people, literary evenings and collecting historical material [4] .
History and Modernity
The museum is located in the city center and is located in the house of the former Novosil merchants Vorogushins. It was created back in the prewar years by the local historian teacher artist Glagolev Vasily Nikolaevich (1874-1934) [5] [6] . He did a lot to organize and collect historical material. In May 1930, a letter from the Director of the Museum of Public Education (the initial name of the museum) of the Novosilsky District V. N. Glagolev came to the Oryol Museum of Local Lore about the opening of a new settlement in the tract "Kalmykov Verkh" near the village of Vozdvizhenki, Verkhovsky District [7] . The revival of the museum, which died during the German occupation, began in the 60s. Thanks to the spouses Kaznacheev Aleksei Vasilievich (1918–1996) and Maria Andreevna (1922–2017) - honorary citizens of the city of Novosil, teachers of the Novosil school, who have been collecting materials for the creation of the museum of military glory since the early 1950s, on August 5 1985 the official opening of the museum [8] . In 1988, the Novosilsky Museum of Local Lore was awarded the title "People" [4] [9] .
The first hall of the museum is dedicated to the history of the founding of Novosil, whose archaeological excavations date back to the 1st millennium BC. e. [10] . The hall dedicated to the Great Patriotic War is decorated with the diorama of the Oryol artist Andrei Kurnakov "Breakthrough of Nazi defense near the village of Vyazha on July 12, 1943." The museum displays expositions: archaeological and ethnographic (embroidered folk costumes, a collection of old irons and cannonballs), the pre-revolutionary district period, the period of World War II, creative, collections of rare paleontological finds, the room of Soviet life [11] [12] . The storerooms of the museum store the recollections of eyewitnesses of historical events, exhibits testifying to the history of the region. Currently, the museum rents the first floor of a federal-owned building owned by the tax service [12] .
