Biography
The future artist was born in Louisville , Kentucky . His father, Charles L. Cornwall, was a civil engineer , so his son had an interest in technical issues in his young years. She was reflected in his drawings .
As an artist, Dean Cornwell began as a cartoonist in the local Louisville Herald . Subsequently, he left the city and graduated from the Chicago Institute of Arts . He worked for the Chicago Tribune .
In 1915 he arrived in New York, where the League of Student Artists became the second place of art education.
He traveled to London , where he studied the technology of creating monumental painting under the direction of artist Frank Branghwin .
He worked as an illustrator in the editions of the magazines Harper's Bazaar , Cosmopolitan , the women's magazine Redbook, and others.
Leadership of the Student Artists League invited Dean Cornwell to New York as a teacher . He was also president of the Society of Illustrators from 1922 to 1926 .
He died on December 4, 1960 in the city of New York .
