The Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology ( ONIT RAS ) is a structural unit of the Russian Academy of Sciences , which includes scientists whose research interests are in the field of information technology and nanotechnology , as well as scientific institutions whose studies are devoted to the problems of these branches of science and technology.
History
The Department of Informatics, Computing, and Automation of the USSR Academy of Sciences was organized on March 3, 1983.
After the creation of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 1991, it became part of it. In 2002-2007 - Department of Information Technology and Computing Systems.
Since December 2007, the department has been called the “Department of Nanotechnology and Information Technology” [1] [2] [3] .
The academicians-secretaries of the Department were E.P. Velikhov (1983-1991, 2007—2017) [1] [4] [5] , S.V. Emelyanov (1992-2002) and A.L. Stempkovsky (2017—2019) . On April 23, 2019, G. Ya. Krasnikov was appointed acting academician-secretary of the Department.
