History
The Singapore Volleyball Association was formed in 1961 and since 1965 has been a member of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) .
The debut of the Singapore female national team in the official international arena took place in December 1965 in Malaysia at the Games of the Southeast Asian Peninsula , the program of which for the first time included female volleyball. Singapore volleyball players won the bronze medal of the Games volleyball tournament, and then three more times became one of the winners of these regional multisports competitions of states located on the Indochina Peninsula. In 1977, the competition was transformed into the Southeast Asian Games and the Singapore women's team twice in its history won the bronze medal of volleyball tournaments, including at the last Games held in 2015 in Singapore .
In other competitions, the Singapore national team participated only once - in the 1987 Asian Championships in Shanghai Shanghai . In their group of the preliminary stage, Singaporean volleyball players became the third, losing 0-0 to the national teams of Japan and South Korea and defeating the teams of Macau (3: 0) and Australia (3: 1). In the playoffs for 5-8th places, Singaporeans lost twice to Thailand and Australia, taking thereby the 8th line in the final arrangement. More in the continental championships, the Singapore team was not announced.
