Biography

Julius Hirschberg studied at the University of Berlin , in 1867 he defended his doctoral dissertation and in 1867 passed the exam for a doctor. Since 1868, he worked as an ophthalmologist in the clinic of Albrecht von Gref , in 1869 he opened his own medical practice. Received the right to teach in 1870. In 1879 he was appointed extraordinary, and in 1900 - an ordinary honorary professor at the University of Berlin. Since 1907, he was engaged exclusively in scientific work in the field of the history of medicine and, in particular, ophthalmology, and in 1899-1912 published the “Textbook for the Treatment of Eye Diseases”. The name of Julia Girschberg is a strabismus test. Invented a model of an electromagnet used to extract intraocular foreign bodies.
