Opening

Developed the theoretical principles of the four-stroke internal combustion engine , the most important thing - the compression of the working mixture before ignition . His achievement is partly due to the fact that he stressed the previously underestimated importance of compressing the air-fuel mixture before ignition. He published his results in 1861, a year after Christian Reitmann received a patent in Germany and 16 years before Nicholas Otto received his patent. These ideas by Bo de Rocha were put in the basis of his book “The Latest Studies on the Practical Conditions for the Use of Heat,” published in Paris in 1863.
