Biography
Nikon Romanov was born in 1909 in a peasant family in the Namsky nasleg of the Verkhnevilyui ulus of the Vilyui district of the Yakutsk region . By nationality, Yakut . In 1926 he graduated with honors from the Verkhnevilyuysky secondary school and entered the Verkhnevilyuysky pedagogical college. In 1929 he graduated from college and was appointed a teacher at the Malykay school of the Nyurba district . He took part in the creation of the first collective farms . Since 1930, a member of the CPSU (b) . He returned to Verkhnevilyuysk , worked as a teacher. In 1932 he entered the historical department of the Leningrad Pedagogical Institute. A.I. Herzen . In 1935 he graduated from the Institute and until 1938 he worked as a teacher in the Department of History of the USSR, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs of the Yakutsk Pedagogical Institute . Since 1938, he studied at the graduate school of the History Department of Leningrad State University [1] .
June 21, 1941 he defended his thesis on "Yasak in Yakutia in the XVIII century." The next day the Great Patriotic War began , and Nikon Romanov volunteered for the front. He said: “ They want to take away the won happiness from us. Do not be this. Yesterday I was a researcher, today - a fighter of the mighty Red Army ” [2] . He died on September 9, 1941 in battles in the Kolpino area [3] .
