Biography

Anna-Laura Vyar was born on June 7, 1981 in the city of Arras of the department of Nor - Pas de Calais . She began to actively engage in kayaking from early childhood, was trained in Dijon , was a member of the local sports club of the same name.

The first serious success at the adult international level was in 2004, when she got into the main team of the French national team and thanks to a series of successful performances she was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Athens Summer Olympics . Started here in twos with team-mate Marie Delattre at a distance of 500 meters, but managed to reach only the semi-finals, where she finished fourth.

After the Athens Olympics, Vyar remained in the main composition of the rowing team of France and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2005, she visited the European Championships in Poznan, Poland, from where she brought the bronze dignity award, won in the classification of double kayaks at half a kilometer distance. In addition, this season, in the same discipline, she achieved the same result at the World Championships in Croatian Zagreb and performed at the Mediterranean Games in Almeria, where she became a bronze medalist among singles at five hundred meters. A year later, in singles at a distance of 200 meters she took bronze at the European Championship in Rachitsa. A year later, she went to represent the country at the world championship in German Duisburg and added another bronze medal to the track record, received in doubles at five hundred meters.

Being among the leaders of the French national team, Anna-Laura Vyar successfully qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing - this time she and Marie Delattre reached the final in the half-kilometer double-kayak program and won third place at the finish, thereby winning bronze Olympic medals (in the finals only crews from Hungary and Poland passed them). The last time she showed any significant result on the international scene in the 2009 season, when she received a bronze award in the two hundred meter single kayak race at the World Championships in Dartmouth, Canada. Soon after the end of these competitions, she decided to end the career of a professional athlete, losing her place in the national team to young French rowers.
