Career
The early years
Daniel began skating in 1995 [4] . O'Shea has teamed up with Christine Moser in the 2009-10 season, Carolyn Knope in the 2010-11 season and Jessica Calalang in the 2011-12 season. He also acted as a loner until 2011.
In April 2012, she paired up with Tara Kane [5] .
2012/2013
At their first U.S. Championship in January 2013, Tara and Daniel took seventh place. At their first international tournament, the International Challenge Cup in 2013, they won silver medals.
2013/2014
In the 2013–14 season, they won bronze medals at the US Classic and Icechallenge . Having taken the sixth place at the US Championship 2014, they went to the Championship of four continents , where they became silver medalists.
2014/2015
On July 28, 2014, Tara underwent surgery on her right thigh [6] . As a result, the couple could not debut at the stages of the Grand Prix Cup of China 2014 and Rostelecom Cup 2014 . Kane / O'Shea returned to competing in the Golden Spin of Zagreb Challenger Series tournament with a bronze medal. At the US Championships, the couple first hit the podium, becoming the third. This result allowed them to go to the championship of four continents , in which they took only eighth place.
2015/2016
The couple started the new season at the home stage of the Salt Lake City Challenger Series tournament, which they won. In this tournament, Tara injured her right knee [7] . But this did not stop them from debuting at the stages of the Grand Prix series. At the home stage, the couple took sixth place [8] and fourth place at the Rostelecom Cup 2015 [9] . This was followed by another medal of the Challenger series tournament - bronze at the Golden Spin of Zagreb 2015 [10] .
In January 2016, the couple won the first big victory. Tara and Daniel became US champions, beating current champions Alex Shimek and Chris Knirim by 14.85 points [11] . The couple went to the championship of four continents as the leader of the US national team, however, in Taipei, the skaters stopped one step away from the medals [12] . At the beginning of April in Boston at the home world championships, the couple managed to break into the number of participants in the free program, but the US skaters did not manage to break into the dozen of the best greenhouses in the world, taking only thirteenth place [13] .
2016/2017
The pair began the new pre-Olympic season in Finland at the traditional Finlandia Trophy tournament , where they turned out to be not the best American couple, taking only fifth place [14] . In mid-October, American skaters performed at the Chicago Grand Prix home stage , where they took their place at the middle of the standings at Skate America 2016 [15] . At the same time, they failed a short program, but in third place they took third place [16] . At the end of November, they performed at the final stage of the Grand Prix in Sapporo , where they took a seat next to the podium [17] . In January, at the national championship in Kansas, after the short program, the skaters came in fifth and before the free program they shot because of a concussion that Tara received in the short program after she hit her head during the execution of the shot [18] . The season for the couple has come to an end.
During the season, Kane intensified pain due to tendonitis of the right knee [18] , as a result of her 2015 injury [7] . She received a new tendon during an operation at the Valley Valley Medical Center on February 14, 2017, and then refrained from walking for seven weeks [7] . She resumed training by July 2017. [7]
2017/2018
American greenhouses began the new Olympic season in early December at the Golden Spin of Zagreb , which the pair finished in third place. At the beginning of the year, the couple, to the surprise of many experts, performed very well at the national championship. They confidently became vice-champions, but since the American team at the Olympic Games had one quota, the couple did not go to the Olympics. Given that the championship of four continents took place two weeks before the Olympics, the American Federation sent a second squad to it. In Taipei at the end of January, Tara and Danny performed perfectly in the continental championship . They won the tournament for the first time in their careers [19] .
In March, the couple was supposed to go to the World Cup , but because of a stressful fracture at their partner, they decided not to risk it and refused to travel [20] .
In early July, it was announced that Tara and Danny were moving to Colorado Springs . Now they will train under the guidance of Delaila Saperfield [21] .
2018/2019
In the first tournament, under the leadership of a new coach, the couple performed unsuccessfully, taking only seventh place [22] . At their first stage of the 2018 NHK Trophy, Tara and Danny were fifth, gaining a total of 164.16 points [23] . But at the second stage, they were waiting for success. Kane and O'Shea became silver medalists in the French Grand Prix stage, winning a medal at that level for the first time in their careers [24] . A couple of days later, Tara and Danny successfully performed at the Challenger series tournament in Tallinn , winning the silver of this tournament [25] .
In the US Championship, Tara and Danny were in the lead after a short program [26] . But in the free program, the couple could not cope with the excitement. First, Tara tore off the cascade, falling after the triple salchow, and at the very end of the program, they foiled support. According to the results of the tournament, Tara and Danny took fourth place [27] . Despite this result, they were sent to the championship of four continents , which they won a year ago [28] . At the tournament, the couple set a new personal record in the short program, gaining 66.34 points [29] . But a day later they again failed to cope with the free program and, following the results of the competition, they became only sixth [30] .
