Haploid vs diploid.svg

Haploid cells are living cells , unlike diploid cells , containing a single set of chromosomes . Each chromosome is represented in such cells by a single copy, and each gene is represented by one allele. Therefore, haploid organisms manifest all newly arising mutations (there is no phenomenon of dominance and recessiveness). A special case of haploid cells are gametes .
