Institute of Gas Technology

The Gas Technology Institute is an American non-profit organization that develops, demonstrates and licenses new energy technologies for private and public customers, with a particular focus on the gas industry. The institute is located in Des Plains , Illinois .

History

In 1941, the Institute of Gas Technology was founded at the Illinois Institute of Technology .

In 1976, the Gas Research Institute was founded by the federal government. It was funded from interstate natural gas taxes. [one]

In 2000, the tax funded by the Gas Research Institute was abolished, as a result of which the Gas Research Institute and the Institute of Gas Technology were combined to form the Gas Technology Institute .

In 2006, the building where the institute used to be located was occupied by Shimer College , which settled there after moving from Waukegan , Illinois . [2]
