Possible battle with Charles Martin
On December 12, 2015, Dominique Brizil was scheduled to fight with the unbroken American “prospectus” Charles Martin (22-0-1), but two days before the fight, Charles Martin’s team refused to meet with Brizil, after it became known that Martin there was an opportunity to fight for the vacant IBF world title [2] .
Fight with Amir Mansour
After that, on January 23, 2016, Dominique fought for the vacant WBC Continental Americas champion title with 43-year-old American boxer Amir Mansour (22-1-1, 16KO). In round 3, Mansour knocked down Brazil, but he got up and continued the fight. As a result, Brazil won in the 5th round, Mansur’s refusal to continue the fight - Mansur could not continue the fight due to a fracture of the jaw [3] .
Championship fight with Anthony Joshua
On June 25, 2016 in London , Dominique had a fight with the IBF world champion, the undefeated Briton Anthony Joshua (16-0, 16CO) [4] . For Joshua, this was the first defense of the championship title that he took away on April 9, 2016 by knocking out American Charles Martin , with whom Dominic did not have a scheduled fight on December 12, 2015. Dominic Brizil, in turn, stated that he was guaranteed to take the IBF title from Joshua [5] [6] . But in the battle, from the first round, Joshua had a clear advantage, and Brizil was always late, not keeping up with Joshua's speed, missing a large number of hits. The battle looked one-sided. Brizil was able to endure the first six rounds and transfer the fight to the second half, but at the very beginning of the 7th round, Joshua sent him to the floor of the ring, he got up, but after another knockdown the fight was stopped [7] .
Fight the Isuagbe Theft
On February 25, 2017, Dominik was supposed to have a fight with a former contender for the WBC World Championship title by Pole Arthur Shpilka (20-2, 15 KO) , but a little more than a month before the fight, the latter was replaced by another Polish fighter of Nigerian origin puncher Izuagbe Hijacker (17-0, 14 KO) [8] . The hijacker started the fight very well, confidently winning the first two rounds, but at the beginning of the third he began to act extremely aggressively and ran into a counter-strike by Brizil, who knocked him down. The hijacker was able to survive a few more difficult moments in this round, and in the end he even shook Brizila himself. In the fourth round, Ugonokh completely dominated the ring and knocked down Brizil, but he was able to survive, in the fifth round, Brizil sent Ugonyokh to the platform of the ring twice - after the second fall of the black Pole in this round (and the third for the fight), the referee stopped the match, fixing the victory Dominica Brezila by knockout [9] .
Fight with Eric Molina
On October 12, 2017, the World Boxing Council decided that the fight Dominic Brizil - Eric Molina will have the status of a fight for the title of mandatory contender for the world title in this version, which Deontay Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) currently has [10] however, later WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that the Brizil – Molina fight would not be the final eliminator, but would “bring” the winner closer to the fight against the champion.
A relatively sluggish fight exploded in a spectacular cabin in the 5th round, and in the 8th three-minute battle ended - Molina knocked down, missed the right one from Brizil and struggled to the end of the round, but didn’t reach the 9th round. Brizil won by refusing to continue the fight in round 8 and took 2nd place in the WBC rating [11]
Deontay Wilder Fight
At the end of March 2018, it became known that the International Boxing Federation ( IBF ) scheduled for April 10 to conduct promotional bids between the heavyweight teams of Kubrat Pulev (25-1, 13 KOs) from Bulgaria and Dominic Brizil (19-1, 17 KOs) from the USA . At stake was the status of a mandatory challenger for the fight with the IBF world champion, who at the moment was Anthony Joshua (21-0, 20 KOs) [12] . But in early April 2018, the WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (40-0, 39 KOs) confirmed the rumors that his next rival could be Dominic Brizil, an ex-candidate for the IBF title [13] . And it soon became known that the team of Dominic Brizil refused to negotiate a candidate fight with the Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev and fully focused on preparing the fight with the American Deontay Wilder.
On March 19, 2019, it was officially announced that the battle with Deontay Wilder would take place on May 18, 2019 [14] .
