The Karabastau Formation - a geological formation located in the South Kazakhstan region , near the village of Koshkarata (Baidibek district) , on the territory of Mount Karatau, belongs to the Jurassic period. On the territory, fossils of pterosaurs were found. The Karabastau Formation or the Karabastau Formation, known throughout the world, is an object of research of scientific importance [1] .
In 2016, the paleontological sites of Aulie and Karabastau were included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in the framework of the Aksu-Dzhabaglinsky National Park. [2]
