Story
1949 year. Henri Chatlier, the already whitewashed gray-haired owner of a large brewery and cinema in Cherbourg , is driving his cohabitant Odile to her father’s funeral in the small port town of Port-en-Bessin in Calvados . The love between them has already faded, and they miss all the way.
Keeping a distance from the family members of the deceased, Shatlyar spends time in the “Port Cafe”. Looking at the funeral procession from the window, he notices a beautiful girl among those walking behind the coffin.
On the cafe wall, he sees an announcement about the upcoming auction sale of a fishing vessel and, in order to dispel a little boredom, decides to go there and possibly buy it.
Later, the same girl enters the cafe. “She's cute,” says Shatlyar to the cafe owner. “You do not know her? This is Marie, Odile's sister, ”she answers. He looks at Marie, and she returns his gaze. Then, when Shatlyar already gets up from the table and goes out to go to the auction, a cheerful skirmish arises between him and the girl.
From that moment, Shatlyar, who is drawn to this beautiful girl, begins to live between two love stories: one slowly dying and the other, which has not even begun yet.
