“ Where the Wild Roses Grow ” is a duet song by rock band Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and singer Kylie Minogue .

In 2014, the British music magazine New Musical Express placed Where the Wild Roses Grow performed by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and Kylie Minogue in 378th place on their list of 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ^[1] ^[2] .

Composition

This is the classic "killing ballad" where the groom kills his lover "where wild roses grow."

According to Nick Cave himself, the song “Where the Wild Roses Grow” is inspired by the popular ballad “The Willow Garden”.

Versions

There is another version of this song, released on the collection of B-Sides & Rarities . In this version, Minogue is played by Bad Seeds guitarist Blix Bargeld . Performing this song at concerts, Blixa read the words of the song on a piece of paper, thereby emphasizing that he was not “Eliza Day”.

In 2012, the third version of “Where the Wild Roses Grow” appeared, recorded by Cave and Minogue for the album The Abbey Road Sessions last. The orchestral version is much sadder than the romantic original.
