Initial biography
Mikhail Dmitrievich Zaichikov was born on January 1, 1901 in the village of now Vacha Vachsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Military Service
Civil War
In August 1919, he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to the 5th Regiment of the Red Army ( Yaroslavl Military District ). In March 1920, he was appointed senior copyist of the Vladimir Guard Battalion, in December, Assistant Regimental Adjutant for the operational unit of the 46th Infantry Regiment of Internal Service Forces, then - Adjutant of the 79th Separate Battalion of Internal Service Forces, March 1921 - to the position of adjutant of the 8th battalion of the Cheka troops.
Interwar Time
In February 1922, he was appointed clerk for the line and business units of the 5th separate company of GPU troops, in July, as an instructor-technician and adjutant of the 6th separate Vladimir division of the GPU troops, and from September to October served as senior clerk operational department headquarters CHON Vladimir province .
In June 1923, Zaichikov was appointed adjutant, then to the position of clerk for the frontline and economic units of the 7th Tver Division of the OGPU troops. Great Patriotic War
Since the beginning of the war, Zaichikov was in his former position. In August 1941, he was appointed to the post of chief of the 1st division of the headquarters of the 1st rifle division of the NKVD troops ( Leningrad Front ), after which he took part in the battle for Leningrad .
From February 1942, he was at the disposal of the General Directorate of Personnel of the Non-Commercial Organization and in March of the same year he was appointed to the post of chief of staff of the 78th , and then to the post of commander of the 73rd rifle division . In October, he was appointed to the post of senior assistant, and in July 1943, to the post of deputy chief of the operational department of the headquarters of the Southwestern Front , transformed into the 3rd Ukrainian in October of the same year.
In May 1944, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 6th Guards Rifle Corps , who took part in the Yassy-Kishinev , Belgrade , Budapest offensive and Balaton defensive operations . From 8 to 24 November, he temporarily commanded this corps. For courage and bravery shown in battles, Mikhail Dmitrievich Zaichikov was awarded orders of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, 2 degrees, World War 1 degrees, and he was given the military rank of " Major General ".
In April 1945, he was appointed to the post of chief of the operations department, and then to the post of deputy chief of staff of the 9th Guards Army , which took part in the Vienna and Prague offensive operations , during which she set out on the Elbe .
Post War Career
