Bibliographic information management systems are systems that allow researchers, scientists and writers to create and reuse bibliographic references . After the link is created, it is used to create a bibliography , that is, a list of bibliographic references, in a scientific article, monograph , book.
Description
The development of bibliographic information management systems is spurred by a rapid increase in the amount of scientific literature. It is known that “the main factor determining the coordinated teamwork of scientists is the organization of the transmission of information” [1] .
Software typically includes a database and a system for generating selected links in formats required by scientific journals . Modern bibliographic information management systems (for example, Bibus ) can be integrated with word processors so that a list of links (in the selected format) is created automatically and added to the document. This eliminates the trouble of forgetting to include a link to the source cited in the text. Systems also have the ability to import (export) bibliographic link details from bibliographic databases.
With the development of Web 2.0 , online bibliographic information management systems have appeared. The ability to access from any computer, the collective work on one topic are the features of such systems, for example, CiteULike .
Bibliographic information management systems differ from bibliographic databases, which try to collect data on all articles for a given discipline or group of disciplines, for example, Medline , ISI Web of Knowledge or PsycINFO ( Association of American Psychologists ). These are large databases installed on special servers . In bibliographic information management systems, significantly smaller publication databases are used by one person or group of people; such databases can be easily installed on a separate personal computer .
