Nina Konstantinovna Belyakova (b. 15.01.1926) - Soviet and Russian translator and journalist.
The author of translations of more than 200 books from Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and English. Among the translations of N.K. Belyakova - novels by Selma Lagerlöf, Wilhelm Muberg, August Strindberg, Per Lagerkvist and Sakarias Topelius, works by Astrid Lindgren and Tove Jansson, a series of books by L. Frank Baum about The Magic Land of Oz.
Specialized in poetic translation. Poetic translations of N.K. Belyakova from the Swedish language was published in the magazines Zvezda, Neva, and Vologodnoye Slovo, as well as in a separate collection, Walking Through the Galaxy, or The World in a Drop of Dew (From Swedish Lyrics of the 20th Century). Favorite poetess N.K. Belyakova - Edith Södergran, the ancestor of the modernist poetry of Scandinavia.
Member of the Union of Writers of St. Petersburg and the Creative Union "Masters of Literary Translation". Author of the books “Kingdom of Sweden”, “I am in a hurry, I am running”.
She was awarded the Sakarias Topelius International Prize for translating his novel Fire and Water.
Currently resides in St. Petersburg.
