Online Popularity

July 8, 2008 Alexander Tikhonovetsky gained popularity among readers of the Championship.ru website. It all started with humorous comments on an article on the site [22] , the cause of which, first of all, was too pathetic with regard to Alexander, according to users, the title of the article, despite the fact that the player himself since disqualification for eight months for using marijuana in 2006 year causes for this reason thematic interest in a certain part of people.

The next wave of popularity of Tikhonovetsky went the next day, July 9, the reason for this was the title of an article posted on that day on the same site about the last round in the First Division : “Tikhonovetsky began to score for Kuban” [23] , which, due to one of the vernacular the meaning of the word “score” was actually ambiguous and could be taken as a hint at the story of the 2006 disqualification and its reasons.

By the evening of July 9, the initially negative reaction of the leadership of the website Chempionat.ru to joking comments in the articles was replaced due to the sharp increase in the number of visitors to the resource thanks to them, turning into a desire to use the situation for their own purposes to draw attention to the site [24] . Nevertheless, closer to midnight of the same day, the project manager Dmitry Sergeyev issued a warning to users: for an unmotivated mention of the name "Tikhonovetsky" in other news from 00:00 on July 10, everyone who was guilty was threatened with account blocking on the resource page [25] .

Soon, based on the events that brought the player fame on the RuNet , a song appeared about Alexander Tikhonovetsky performed by the duet Dentist and Fisun [26] . Alexander himself expressed gratitude to the authors and performers of the song about himself [27] .
