Kuwaiti athletes acted as independent athletes at the Games in Rio de Janeiro, as the IOC temporarily suspended the activities of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee due to government interference in its work [1] [2] . Athletes performed under the Olympic flag . At the opening ceremony of the Games and at the closing ceremony, the flag was carried by a volunteer of the competition.

Fehide Ad-Dikhani was the first in the history of participation of independent athletes who managed to win a gold medal. For Ad-Dikhani, this medal was already the third in his career. Previously, he became the bronze medalist of the Games of 2000 and 2012. The second medal in Rio de Janeiro was won by multiple world champion in the monastery of Abdullah Al Rashidi , for whom the 2016 Games were already the sixth.

  Shooting

In January 2013, the International Shooting Sport Federation adopted new rules for holding competitions for 2013-2016, which, in particular, changed the order of the finals. In many disciplines, athletes who reached the finals now begin the decisive round without points scored in the qualification, and the finals are held according to the elimination system. Also, in the finals after each round of shooting, the athlete with the least points is eliminated from further struggle. A semi-final round was added to the trap shooting, where two participants in the final match and a duel for the third place were determined [3] .

In individual competitions, athletes fight three rounds of three minutes, or until one of the athletes delivers 15 injections. In team competitions, the fight goes on 9 rounds of 3 minutes each, or up to 45 injections. If at the end of time a draw is recorded in a duel, then an additional minute is assigned before the “golden” shot.
