History

The county was formed in 1837 as part of the Kalish province . In 1919, it was transformed into the Sieradz County of Lodz Voivodeship of Poland .

Population

According to the 1897 census, the county’s population was 123,721 people, including 7005 inhabitants in the city of Sieradz , 15,910 inhabitants in the Zudunskaya Volya cities, and 3418 inhabitants Warta [1] .

National composition

  • Jews - 14,050 (11.4%),
  • Germans - 9654 people (7.8%),
