Club career
Cuero is a graduate of the La Ekidad club. On October 23, 2011, in his match against Independente Medellin , he made his debut in the Mustang Cup [1] . In 2011, Cuero helped the team take second place in the championship. On June 20, 2012, in the Colombian Cup match against Bogotá , Mauricio scored his first goal for La Ekidad [2] . In early 2014, Cuero, on loan, transferred to the Romanian Vaslui [3] [4] . On February 23, in a match against CFR Cluj, he made his debut in the Romanian championship [5] . In the summer of the same year, Mauricio on loan joined the Argentinean Olympo [6] . On August 16, in a duel against the Tigre , he made his debut in the Argentinean Example [7] . On November 8, in a match against Quilmes , Cuero scored his first goal for Olimpo [8] .
At the beginning of 2015, Mauricio on a leasehold moved to Banfield [9] . On February 15, in a match against Temperley , he made his debut for a new team [10] . On February 21, in a duel against Atletico Rafael Cuero scored his first goal for Banfield [11] .
In early 2016, Mauricio moved to the Spanish Levante , signing a contract for three years [12] . The transfer amount was 3.2 million euros, which was a record amount for the Valencian club [13] . On January 9, in his match against Rayo Vallecano , he made his debut in La Liga [14] .
In the summer of that year, Cuero moved to the Mexican Santos Laguna . On August 8, in a match against Puebla , he made his debut in the Mexican Example , replacing Fredi Inestros in the second [15] . In a duel against the Necaxa , Mauricio scored his first goal for Santos Laguna [16] . In the summer of 2017, Cuero, on loan, moved to Tijuana . On July 22, in a match against Cruz Asul , he made his debut for a new team [17] .
International Career
In 2013, as part of the Colombian youth team, Cuero won the South American Youth Championship in Argentina . In the tournament he played in matches against the teams of Bolivia [18] , Ecuador [19] , Uruguay [20] , Peru [21] , Argentina [22] as well as twice Paraguay [23] [24] and Chile [25] [26] .
