Biography

Gabor Kuchera was born on August 27, 1982 in Budapest . He began to actively engage in rowing from early childhood, was trained at the local sports club Kőbánya SE.

He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in 2004, when he joined the Hungarian national team and attended the European Championships in Poznan, Poland, where he brought in the Golden Dignity Award won in the four-seat kayak at a distance of 500 meters. A year later, at the European Championship in the same Poznan, he twice went up to the podium: in two he received bronze at five hundred meters and silver at one thousand meters. In addition, this season he performed at the world championship in the Croatian Zagreb, where he won the kilometer race of double crews.

In 2006, at the European Championship in Czech Rachitsa Kucera won the gold medal in doubles per kilometer, while at five hundred meters he was forced to be content with silver. At the same time, at the home world championship in Szeged, he was also the best at a kilometer distance in doubles, while at half a kilometer he received only bronze. The following season, he added to the track record a gold award won in the 2000s at the European Championships in the Spanish Pontevedra, and two bronze medals at the 500s and 1000 meters won at the World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.

At the 2008 European Championships in Milan, he won silver in the kilometer single and half kilometer fours. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the country's honor at the Beijing Summer Olympics - he started here in two together with team-mate Zoltan Kammerer at distances of 500 and 1000 meters, in both cases he successfully reached the final stage of the tournament, but in the decisive races he finished fourth both times. without reaching the prize positions.

After the Beijing Olympics, Gabor Kuchera for some time remained in the main composition of the rowing team of Hungary and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2009, in doubles at five hundred meters, he won silver medals at the European Championships in Brandenburg, Germany and at the World Championships in Dartmouth, Canada.

In July 2015, the doping test failed - traces of cocaine were found in his sample. As a result, the Hungarian Canoe Association decided to disqualify it [1] [2] .
