Eritrea at the 2016 Summer Olympics was represented by 12 athletes in 2 sports. At the opening ceremony of the Games, the right to fly the national flag was entrusted to the competition volunteer [1] , and at the closing ceremony the athlete Tsegay Tuemai , who did not perform at the Games in Rio de Janeiro, was an alternative athlete [2] . According to the results of the competition, there were no rewards on the account of Eritrean athletes. These Games became the fifth in a row for Eritrea and, as before, the national team has only one medal won by Zersenai Tades in Athens in the 10,000-meter race .
