Biography
Joseph Mikhailovich (options Movshevich and Moiseevich are also found in the documents) Yetz was born in 1907 in Nizhny Novgorod . In 1929 he graduated from the graphic department of the Leningrad Art Pedagogical College (now - St. Petersburg Art College named after N. K. Roerich ). He studied under the guidance of the artist V.N. Levitsky. Since 1931 he worked as an illustrator in the magazines "Worker and Theater", "Leningrad" , "Young Proletarian", and also illustrated a number of children's books for the publishing house of children's literature "Detgiz" . He was an active member of the creative association of Leningrad artists “ Battle Pencil ”, drew political posters [1] .
With the beginning of World War II, Ec painted propaganda posters of anti-fascist themes. In the summer of 1941, he was called up for service in the Navy of the USSR by the Vyazovsky District Military Commissariat of the Stalingrad Region (now the territory of the Elansky District of the Volgograd Region). According to the documents of the unified database of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Memorial, he commanded the 3rd battalion of the 1st Special Marines Brigade and on September 25, 1941 went missing during the battles near Leningrad [2] .
