Yakov Mikhailovich Yatsinevich (November 8, 1869 - April 25, 1945) - a composer, conductor and folklorist originally from the White Church in the Kiev region .

Biography

Yatsinevich studied at the music school of S. Blumenfeld and N. Lysenko in Kiev , with whom he founded Ukrainian choirs in 1891-1904. The life of Yatsinevich until the October Revolution of 1917 was completely connected with the church: after studying at the Sofia Theological School and the Kiev Theological Academy, he was appointed regent of the best at that time choir of St. Michael's Cathedral . In 1903-1906, Yatsinevich worked as a conductor of the male choir of Kiev University . In the post-revolutionary years, he took an active part in the creation of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church , in honor of which he wrote his most outstanding work - The Liturgy. In 1919 he was an instructor at the All-Ukrainian Musical Committee of the People's Commissariat for Education, conducted the N. Lysenko chapel. In 1925-1930, Yatsinevich was the conductor of the city choir in Odessa , then until 1940 he worked in Zaporozhye [1] .

Under the Soviet regime, he also interrupted by various works - he was a rural teacher, a music teacher in amateur circles with a constant change of residence: in the villages of the Kiev region, later in Eastern Ukraine. He was expelled to the Caucasus in the Adygea Autonomous Region , where in Maykop he directed the song and dance ensemble. In recent years, Yatsinkvich worked as a guard of a collective farm garden in the Krasnodar Territory [2] .

Works: symphony “1905”, oratorio “The Mournful Mother” (words by P. Tychina ), church music (Divine service, cantatas on the themes of St. Yuri, Vasily, Peter and Paul ), choral works, over 200 versions of folk songs.
