Youth European Football Championship 2006 (qualifying tournament)

Qualification for the 2006 European Youth Football Championship began on August 17, 2004 and ended on November 16, 2005 . The teams were divided into eight groups, the composition of which was determined by the results of the draw for the European qualification of the World Cup 2006 . Since some participating countries were not able to gather youth teams, a certain imbalance was formed in the groups.

48 teams were divided into eight groups (six groups - 6 teams each, one group - with 5 and 7 participants). According to the results of the two-round tournament, the two best teams from each group enter the butt round, where the composition of the participants in the final tournament is determined.
