Biography

He was born in 1954 in the family of Mikhail Lazarevich, academician and participant of the Great Patriotic War, Bronstein . In 1955 he was transferred to Tartu (Estonia), where his parents moved in connection with the anti-Semitic campaign in Leningrad. In 1976 he graduated from Tartu State University with a degree in Applied Mathematics . In 1981 he became a candidate of science.

Since the late 1980s, he has been engaged in entrepreneurial activities in the field of non-ferrous metallurgy. He has held senior positions in a number of metallurgical and other companies, and is now a co-founder of Solway , an international investment group that manages assets in Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Patronage and charity

Since 2004, Alexander Bronstein has been actively involved in the life of the Jewish community. So, from 2004 to 2007, he acted as the main sponsor of the construction of the first synagogue in Estonia and the Jewish community center to replace those destroyed during the Great Patriotic War. The synagogue was named "Bet Bella [8] " in honor of the mother of the patron.

In 2006, Bronstein was one of six philanthropists who allocated funds to Israeli orphans whose parents were killed by Hamas militants .

Bronstein is one of the sponsors of the Peres Center in Jaffa, as well as the Presidential Conference, held in Jerusalem since 2008.

In 2006, Bronstein was also one of the initiators and sponsors of the forum "European Friends of Israel" [9] , which gathered in Jerusalem about 500 deputies of parliaments of European countries.
