The area of the lake is 14.2 km², length - 11 km, maximum width - 2 km, maximum depth - 68 meters, height above sea level - 481 meters. The lake is stretched from northwest to southeast, has a curved shape resembling a mirror image of the letter S.
The lake is of glacial origin. The west coast is more flat than the east. In the southwestern part of the lake, the shore rises and breaks into the lake in the form of a 600-meter stone wall, called the Drachenwand. Mondze is the warmest lake in the Salzkammergut; in summer it warms up to 26 °. There are a lot of fish in the lake.
From the southeastern part of the lake follows the short Seeahe River, which flows into Lake Attersee after 3 kilometers. At the northern end of the lake is the old town of Mondze , very popular with tourists.
