After the fire at the Badayevsky warehouses , the food situation became catastrophic, and bread from bakeries became the only food left for citizens, and in November-December 1941 only 125 grams of bread were issued to employees and dependents. Due to the lack of raw materials, bread was baked from various non-traditional types of flour, the remnants of which were available (including barley , soybean , malt ), and since 1942 - and with a significant amount of non-edible impurities (first of all - hydrocellulose for giving volume). The front line was located five kilometers from the plant, and the enterprise was constantly under bombing, only one day, on October 13, 1941, seven high-explosive and more than two hundred incendiary phosphorus bombs were dropped on the plant. During the war, 18 workers lost their jobs in the workplace, 63 workers of the enterprise died in the blockade.

In 1948, the workshop for the production of army crackers was reequipped to produce gingerbread. In the 1960s, the production of small-scale mealy pastry was mastered. In 1966, the plant was awarded the Order of Lenin .

In 1986, in the territory of the enterprise, in honor of the factory workers who fell during the war, a monument “Women of the blockade” was erected by sculptor Sergey Astapov [1] .

In 1993, the enterprise was incorporated under the privatization program , and the company created on the basis of the plant’s assets received the name “ Bread House ” in 1994. In 1995, the company carried out a major modernization of the enterprise, purchasing the Winkler bakery line for 3.2 million German marks and two Italian lines Sasib for $ 3.75 million, in the same year the value of the plant's fixed assets was estimated at $ 30 million [3 ] . In 2005, control over the Bread House completely passed to Fazer, which gradually increased its stake in the company. From the second half of the 2000s, the company’s owner’s materials appeared as a “Smolenskaya production site” (along Smolenskaya Street , where the plant is located).

The city leaders headed by the Vice Governor Mokretsov [4] took part in the celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the plant start-up, held in January in 2015.
