Peter Balakian ( Armenian Փիթեր Բալաքյան ; English Peter Balakian , born 1951 ) is an American poet, writer and researcher. In 2016, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize [4] .

Biography
Balakyan was born in Tinek, New Jersey , into an Armenian family. He studied at the universities of Bucknell, New York and Brown. He taught at Colgate University .
The author of 5 poetry collections (“Sad days of the world”, “Answer from the island of Wilderness”, etc.). The memoirs of Balakyan “The Black Dog of Fate” ( 1997 ) were awarded the PEN / Albrand and New York Times Prizes. The book “The Burning Tiger: The Armenian Genocide and American Responsibility” (2003) received Rafael Lemkin (2005), New York Times Notable Book, and National Bestseller Prizes.
