Early years
Cambridge was born in London on August 18, 1991 [2] [3] . Her father was a Nigerian , and her mother was an Australian. When the girl was three months old, her parents went their separate ways and her mother took her with her to Australia. Originally they lived in Coffs Harbor ( New South Wales ), and later in Melbourne and Mornington [4] [5] .
Already from early childhood, Liz was distinguished by her tall stature, which was why she was mocked by her classmates. So at the age of ten, her height was about 183 cm, and by the age of 14 - 196 cm. When Cambridge was ten years old, her mother invited her to play basketball so that she could find friends [3] [5] [6] [7] .
Professional career
Women's National Basketball Association
In the 2011 WNBA Draft, Cambridge was chosen by the Tulsa Shock Club as a common number two. However, even on March 11, a month before the draft, Liz expressed her unwillingness to play for Shock. In one of the interviews, she said: “I do not want to play for Tulsa and I want everyone to understand this. They want to make me the leader of the club, but I don’t go to the WNBA for that. I go there to learn and improve my game ” [8] . In the 2011 season, Cambridge was invited to take part in the all-star game [9] .
After the completion of the 2012 Summer Olympics, Liz had to return to the USA to spend the rest of the EIF season at Tulsa. However, on the morning of August 27, she announced that she was not going to come. A statement issued by her agent said: “Over the past 6 months, Liz has participated in preparations for the Australian women's team for the Olympic Games in London. After the games, she returned exhausted and she needed some time to recover. Unfortunately, because of this, she is forced to skip the end of the WNBA season. We understand that this is an annoying situation, and we are grateful to the leadership of Tulsa Shock for their understanding ” [10] .
Cambridge returned to Shock in the 2013 season [11] .
China
In June 2012, Cambridge signed a contract with the Chinese club " Zhejiang Far East " for 400,000 Australian dollars. Thus, she became one of the highest-paid basketball players in the world [12] .
