Loredan Popa ( Romanian Loredan Popa ; July 15, 1980 , Vaslui ) - Romanian canoeist rower , played for the Romanian national team in the mid-2000s. Two-time world champion, twice European champion, winner of many regattas of national and international importance.

Biography

Loredan Popa was born on July 15, 1980 in the city of Vaslui . He began to actively engage in rowing in early childhood, was trained in Bucharest, was in the capital's sports society "Dynamo".

He achieved the first serious success at the international level in 2005 when he entered the main team of the Romanian national team and visited the European Championships in Polish Poznan, from where he brought awards of gold and bronze dignity won in the four-seater canoe at distances of 500 and 1000 meters, respectively. In addition, this season he performed at the World Championships in Croatian Zagreb, where he received gold and silver medals in the same disciplines.

In 2006, Popa added to the record a gold medal won at the European Championship in Czech Račice in fours at five hundred meters, as well as a bronze medal won at the World Championship in Hungarian Szeged again in fours at five hundred meters. The last time showed any significant results in the international arena in the 2007 season, when at the World Championships in German Duisburg won a kilometer race for four-seater crews and received bronze in a half-kilometer race for four-seater crews. Soon after the end of these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete, giving way to the team of young Romanian rowers.
