Biography
Josephine Oskarovna Havkina was born in the village of Kutulik, Irkutsk region . She spent her childhood in Chita . In 1953, together with her father, writer Oscar Khavkin , she moved to Moscow. In 1965 she entered the Faculty of Journalism at Moscow State University [1] . At the same time since 1964, she first periodically, and then - as a permanent assistant, works for Lydia Korneevna Chukovskaya [2] [3] . In 1969, this work is formalized. Josephine Oskarovna remains the literary secretary of Chukovskaya [4] and continues to help her even after the expulsion of Lydia Korneevna from the Writers' Union .
Fina, as her friends called, did proofreading all three volumes of Notes on Anna Akhmatova ; in those years when they were threatened with arrest, she made it possible to read " Notes " to friends [5] . Together with others, she prepared notes for individual parts of the three-volume [6] [7] . “... The second volume of Akhmatova ... And so she came out - a Russian book. Mine, Finina, Lyushina , ”wrote L.K. Chukovskaya in her diary in 1980 [8] . “I am very tired; they both work heroically and tirelessly, ”about them in 1977 [9] .
After the death of Lydia Korneevna, she continued to work with her legacy, published her articles [10] [11] [3] . She was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery next to her father.
Archive of J. O. Khavkina is stored in the Russian State Archives of Arts [12] .
