Rosemary Harris ( born September 19, 1927) is a British actress, winner of the Golden Globe , Emmy , Tony , Obie and Drama Desk awards, as well as an Oscar nominee and " BAFTA ".

Biography
Rosemary Harris was born in the English county of Leicestershire in 1927 in the family of Enid Maud Francis and Stafford Berkeley Harris. Her father served in the Royal Air Force in India , where the childhood of the future actress passed. She received her education at the monastery school, and before entering the Royal School of Dramatic Art, she already played in the theater in Eastbourne .
In 1951, she appeared on the Broadway stages of New York , but soon returned to England , where she made her debut on the West End in the production of "Itch of the Seventh Year." This was followed by a period when the actress played mainly in classical productions on the stage of London's Old Vic .
After her first film, Dandy Brummel, Rosemary returned to Broadway , after which she began to play on both sides of the Atlantic. In 1959, she, along with her husband, American actor Ellis Rabb, joined the actor's association (APA), which he created, in which she successfully worked for the next 10 years. In 1966, for the role of Eleanor in the production of “The Lion in Winter,” the actress was awarded the Tony Prize.
In 1967, after a divorce from her first husband, Rosemary Harris married American writer John Al. The couple settled in Winston-Salem in North Carolina , where in 1969 they had a daughter, Jennifer El , who later became an actress. In 1999, Rosemary Harris and her daughter appeared in the melodrama Taste of Sunshine , where they played the same heroine in their youth and old age, respectively. In 2002, the actress played the role of Aunt May in the movie Sam Reimi " Spider-Man ", repeating this role in the 2004 and 2007 sequels. In the fall of 2018, she reappeared on Broadway in the musical My Fair Lady . where she played the role of Mrs. Higgins. [four]
