Biography
Vladimir Minervin was born on March 11, 1899 in Suschev. After graduating from high school in 1918 he worked as a rural teacher, without having a diploma. In the same 1918 he was drafted into the army, in 1922 he was demobilized . In 1929 he graduated from Moscow University (MSU) with a degree in meadow botanist.
In 1929 he moved to Turkmenistan , where he spent a lot of time in geobotanical expeditions to study desert pastures. From 1929 to 1938 he held the position of department head, then became the director of the Institute of feed of the Turkmen branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences . From 1938 to 1941 he worked as a teacher at the Turkmen Agricultural Institute . From 1941 to 1953 he worked in the Turkmen branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (in 1951, the branch became the Academy of Sciences of the Turkmen SSR).
In early October 1953, as part of a group of nerds, he went on an expedition to Western Kopetdag , where he died on October 13, 1953 at the age of 54.
Scientific activity
The main areas of research are geobotanical studies of plant resources of Turkmenistan.
- He laid the foundation for the scientific study of pastures of plain Turkmenistan.
- He developed methods for creating a sustainable fodder base for the successful development of animal husbandry in the desert.
The author of over 30 scientific papers.
