Strumigenys uichancoi Brown, 1957

Small ants (about 2 mm) with a heart-shaped head, extended posteriorly. Head dorsum without distant hairs at occipital margin. They have long mandibles with two apical spike teeth and one preapical. The main body color is tan. Antennae 6-segmented. The posterior breast is angular. The metapleuron and sides of the propodeum are smooth. Similar to representatives of the species complex S. rofocala -complex. It differs from the closely related species Strumigenys rofocala in the absence of spaced hairs of the head dorsum. Apicoscrobial hairs are absent, or do not differ from previous hairs of the head. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, pupae are naked (without cocoon). Presumably, like other species of the genus, specialized hunter for coleball . The species was first described in 1957, and its species status was confirmed during a generic revision in 2000 by the English worldmecologist Barry Bolton ( London , UK ) [1] [2] .
