Biography
Born on June 4, 1920 in the village of Khusino near Tuzla from the well-known mining family of the Keroshevichi. Croat by nationality. In the year of his birth, a famous strike took place in Khusino, called the Khusinsky Riot. Millot's father, Franjo, and his cousins participated in the riot: one of them, Yuro Keroshevich, was convicted of killing the gendarme and was initially sentenced to death, which was replaced by a 20-year prison term. After graduating from school, Millau became a miner, working at the Kreki mine. Before the war, he worked in Banovichi. From the family, he first heard about the labor movement, which was actively engaged in its support. Shortly before the war, he joined the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia .
He met the war in Banovichi, after the surrender of Yugoslavia returned to his native village. As a member of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia, he was engaged in preparations for armed uprising. Following an agreement with the Tuzlan Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Kyrgyz Republic, a group of Croatian miners led by Pyotr Miljanovic and Yves Boyanic (Milo was among the group's fighters) arrived at Ustash camp, where they procured weapons, uniforms and ammunition, and then in August 1941 ran to the partisans on territory free from occupiers in Ozren. From this group of miners, the Khusinsky mining company of the Ozren partisan detachment was formed. Among the fighters of this company was also the miner Peyo Markovich, in whose honor the song “Mount Konyukh” ( Serb. Koњuh Planin ) was performed. But Millau Keroshevich was the only one of this detachment who lived to see the end of the war. In 1942 he was admitted to the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.
Millau received the nickname from the Guia guerrillas for his courage. At the end of 1942, he joined the 6th East Bosnian Brigade, from October 1943 he served in the newly formed 18th Croatian East Bosnian Brigade, commanding the 3rd Khusinsky Battalion. The battalion distinguished itself in late 1943 during the Sixth Anti-Partisan Offensive: Millau crossed the Krivaya River several times in winter, defending the headquarters of the 3rd Bosnian Corps. He fought at Teshnia, Fochi, Vuchiyak, Doboya, Kladnya and Tuzla. At the end of 1944, Keroshevich as a skilled and proven soldier was transferred to the internal troops - the People’s Defense Corps of Yugoslavia , subordinate to the Yugoslav counterintelligence OZNA. After the war, he was transferred to OZNA and appointed her representative in Tuzla, and later as an assistant in the Tuzlan district department, fighting with the failed Chetniks and Ustashs .
On December 3, 1946, in the village of Chadzhevitsa (now Chadzhevitsa-Srednya) in the Bijelina community, a detachment of the Yugoslav militia suffered a serious loss in battles against the Chetniks of Drago Anchich and Jozo Zaric: Miyo Keroshevich was mortally wounded in a shootout. He was buried in Khusino at the cemetery, where all participants of the Khusinsky riot and soldiers of the Khusinsky partisan company were buried.
July 5, 1951 Keroshevich was posthumously promoted to the National Heroes of Yugoslavia. He was also awarded the 1941 Partisan Memory Medal.
