Biography

Postage stamp of Kyrgyzstan, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the outstanding Kyrgyz poet Zhenizhok Koko uulu, 2010

Born in a poor family. Having lost his parents early, Zhenizhok was forced to leave his native place and move to Kara-Suu .

Already being a teenager, he sang the well-known dastans “Kozhozhash”, “Er Teshtuk ”, the epic “Semetey” .

Being an akyn, I did not write down my works. Folk memory has retained only the texts of his "term".

He is the author of many moral songs, instructions, denunciations, etc., as well as a “term” of philosophical content, including about his time (“Zaman yry”). The improvised contest between two akyns of Zhenizhok and Esenaman is considered a classic example of aytysh .

In Soviet times, the work of the akyn Zhenizhok Koko uulu was characterized as “reactionary and mystical”, and began to be published only since 1982.
