History
The museum was created in 1998 in Cornish, New Hampshire , and occupied the 19th-century Mastlands building. In 2005, the museum moved to the nearby city of Windsor, Vermont, and settled in the building where the city’s fire department used to be. After some organizational difficulties, including tax, the museum returned to Cornish, but in 2010 it ceased to exist.
The museum exposition displayed time in the colony. After its closure, part of the collection was auctioned, the remaining documents and some exhibits related to the history of the founding of the museum are currently placed in the neighboring Dartmouth College ( Dartmouth College ). Over the course of its short history, the museum regularly held exhibitions focused on colonial artists and contemporary American painters. The event “Meet the Artist” was also held, where contemporary US artists were invited.
